The group that really has been an inspiration to me is my MOPS (Moms of Preschoolers) group. MOPS is a group of women that meet twice per month (sometimes more for playgroups and Mom's Nights out) at our church. All of the moms do not attend our church, but many of them do. Some people bring other friends, neighbors, or any mom that they feel could benefit from our group! There is nursery and childcare for all kids, under school age. I just LOVE my MOPS group! It is such a great time to visit, chat, eat breakfast, and do fun activities with great women!
Today in MOPS we were handed out a sheet of paper, with the title: A Life Plan When You're Overwhelmed: Sanity Manifesto
There were about 25 bullets, all with good points to try and gain some sanity back in a busy mom's life! Some that I will try to follow in the Life Plan are:
- Go Slow. Life isn't an emergency: It's a gift! I am ALWAYS rushing around! Always. I think if I worked on going a bit slower that maybe I would enjoy certain things more.
- Daily Stillness Appointment. Make an appointment every day, for 5 minutes of nothing. It should be a time with no interruptions. A time spent to be still and cease striving.
- Watch your no's and your yes's will take care of themselves. This is a big one for me. I can never say no about anything. The sheet says "For every one thing you say yes to (or commit to), say no to something else." This would help with my feeling over-committed so much of the time.
- The Holy, Happiness Habit. This is counting three things each day that I am grateful for, and actually writing them down. I think I will do this with my kids each morning. I'm sure Ella will participate, which would be cute. It's easy to ficus on the negatives and the things I would change. I want to focus more on the joy and blessings in my life. I plan to get a little white board to number and write these down each morning during breakfast.
